About the course

Social Movies Film School provides a brand new and innovative intensive training opportunity created by the two key course leaders - the award-winning writer Bola Agbage and renowned social media filmmaker Tom Moutchi. This programme is supported by Into Film, with BFI’s Film Forever National Lottery funds.

The course, which students attend for one full day a week for two weeks, is comprised of four core specialist tracks – writing, directing, practical filmmaking & managing social media channels. Students will complete an assignment between the two training weeks and will also put their learning into practice by shooting scenes for their own short social movie under the expert guidance of the tutors.

  • Week 1 – Saturday 9th December (whole day session 10.00-18.00)
  • Student assignment between sessions
  • Week 2 – Saturday 16rd December (whole day session 10.00-18.00)

Training will take place in the purpose-made education hub, Edspace in Shoreditch

The two key course leaders are the award-winning writer Bola Agbage and renowned social media filmmaker Tom Moutchi. Other course tutors will be drawn from current practitioners in the film industry.

A range of specialist smartphone filmmaking equipment will be made available to students during the course.
